Please note that the preliminary 2022/23 Academic Guide is now live online and effective Fall 2022.
We would like to inform you of the substantive changes to the 2022/23 Academic Guide. Please circulate this email to the faculty and staff in your department/unit:
**Application, Admission and Registration Policies:**
Proficiency in English: CanTEST has been removed as it will be obsolete this year
Eligibility of UM Staff Members: added that a staff member at the rank of may not seek admission in the unit in which they are appointed.
Instructor 1 and above
Initial Program Registration: all students, whether domestic or international, may now defer their admission for one year following initial acceptance
Canadian University Graduate Transfer Agreement (CUGTA) added to Guide
Incomplete Courses: language updated and replicated from the Registrar’s Office’s website
Occasional Students: added: occasional students must apply via the regular FGS admission process; occasional students must upload proof of instructor permission to take the respective course(s) as occasional
Visiting Students: the majority (rather than 60%) of coursework per academic year must be taken at the graduate level while registered as a VS
Throughout document: applying on a Letter of Permission will now be done through Slate
